Please Pray

Dear friends, I am asking for your immediate and fervent prayers, as I am facing a situation that is much bigger than I can handle. Would you pray for me?

In many ways, this week has been wonderful. We were involved in a simply lovely wedding on Saturday, and on Sunday my husband made the wonderful decision that we are going to return to our beloved church. That part of the week was great.

And then Monday came.

Monday was the last day when I could have reasonably expected my period to start. It didn't. And on Monday night, I started to feel nauseated.

I took a test last night (Tuesday).

Positive.

Yesterday afternoon I had to start Zofran, and just a couple of hours ago I took Zofran and Unisom. And I just started throwing up a few minutes ago.

I am extremely frightened. The Zofran/Unisom doesn't seem to be having the same effect it did (not uncommon), and I am facing something that is out of my hands. I am not sure I've ever been so frightened or so overwhelmed.

Would you pray for me?

- That this thing would be mild.

- That my OB would understand and would prescribe for my needs.

- For my fear. I'm having such a hard time trusting God right now. Pray that I would rest in His care.

Thank you, dear friends.

(Real life friends, do keep this under wraps for a while - thanks.)

  2. I am so sorry this is coming so fast and hard.
We research and learn and try to do things that will prevent the HG, but I just don't think it's possible. For whatever reason we have to deal with HG.
Right now you need agressive treatment to get it under control. That may mean a stay in the hospital or a zofran pump at home.

I will be praying for you!

  3. I am sorry to also hear this is coming on so fast, but still excited for your news! There is baby boom going on huh?

Take your protocol with you to your appointments, let them help you tweak it.

  4. Oh, I feel your pain and fear. I have stood in a very similar place. I will be praying for you.

My suggestion at this point is to make yourself obnoxious to the OB. Insist on aggressive care. If you can't do it, have dh or a trusted friend go to bat for you. My OB for my worst HG pregnancy is totally against home birth but he knows his stuff and he saved my life. Let me know if you want his name and number. BTW, I didn't tell him that was planning a hb until my third trimester when the worst was over.

  6. I'm happy for your good news, and will be praying for you re: the HG. You might try Reglan if you haven't yet. It has a lot of side effects - e.g. it causes temporary drowsiness and restlessness; and, in a small number of people, hallucinations - but you might be able to take it. I wasn't too fond of it orally but it worked great for me in a pump with no side effects. Plus, zofran is extremely irritating to the subcutaneous tissue. If I had to take something orally, I would choose Zofran but would opt for Reglan if I needed a pump. I would not do a Zofran pump again. FWIW.
