Lewis wrote it after Joy died and the book is comprised of entries from his journal. It wasn't intended to be a book or an academic treatise. He basically starts out AGO by saying that he knew nothing of pain when he wrote PoP because he had never experienced it. AGO is a lot like Angie's blog...just, older. It's very raw and very real. No academic pontifications, no piety, just raw aching with God.
